QLogic 6200 Series Intelligent Storage Routers
QLogic 6200 Intelligent Storage Routers
The QLogic 6200 series consists of intelligent storage routers that function to provide host connectivity to storage systems, as well as enabling cross-protocol routing and services. As mid-size routers, the QLogic 6200 series are powerful enough to fit the needs of many medium to large enterprise environments. By enabling these environments to share Storage Area Network (SAN) devices, the QLogic 6200 series ensures that they are better utilized and thus, enhance their performance. Another way that QLogic 6200 routers benefit their environment is through their flexibility, with the ability to support multiple networking protocols including Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and Data Control Block (DCB), as well as 8 Gigabits per Second (Gbps) Fibre Channel (FC), 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI). Other ways in which QLogic 6200 routers showcase their flexibility is through their ability to provide heterogeneous storage fabrics, as well as being independent of Operating System (OS) environments.
More than just a flexible SAN solution for data migration, the QLogic 6200 series of intelligent storage routers also performs the additional function of enabling SAN over Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity for the purposes of business continuity and disaster recovery. And in dual-blade configurations, the routers of the QLogic 6200 series are able to support up to 1,024 virtual machines, 2,048 iSCSI initiators and 8,192 Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs). Also featuring redundant, dual blades and power supplies, as well as hot-swappable components, QLogic 6200 routers can be optimized for the highest availability possible. Within the QLogic 6200 series there are two primary router models: the iSR6250 and the iSR6240. The iSR6250 differs from the iSR6240 in that it allows for a throughput of 2.46 Gbps and up to 240,000 Interface Operating Procedures (IOS), and the iSR6250 allows for a throughput of 8,000 Megabits per Second (Mbps) and up to 20,000 IOPs - proving that although the two QLogic 6200 router models have many similarities, they also have key differences.
