QLogic 8200 Series Converged Network Adapters
Let’s just get it out of the way – the QLogic 8200 series of converged network adapters (CNAs) offer host bus support for PCI-Express (PCI-E), a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) throughput and both single and dual port configurations. Are we good then? Got all the information you wanted? Well just in case you want to know a little bit more about these amazing adapters, here’s how they work. Unlike another well-known adapter type, intelligent Ethernet adapters (which function to auto-sense and adapt to the storage requirements of the data center), converged network adapters “split the stream”. In case that made your face scrunch up into a Huh? Face, splitting the stream means that converged network adapters are able to split up storage space up to 4 different ways within a single port adapter and up to 8 different ways within a dual port adapter.
And that’s just what makes converged network adapters amazing, there are even more things to say about what makes the QLogic 8200 series adapters so much MORE amazing. For example, some of the many features that bring optimal performance to the QLogic 8200 adapters include support for three concurrent protocols – Transmission Control Internet Protocol (TCIP)/ Internet Protocol (IP), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) – as well as support for Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), jumbo frames, stateless offload support, and Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV). And wait – there’s more! The QLogic 8100 series also features the ability to concurrently support Local Area Network (LAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN) traffic, as well as offering mind-blowing customer usability with a single-pane-of-glass management tool called QConverge Console. The QLogic 8200 series, in all of its awesomeness, goes even further to offer superior flexibility with support for both copper cabling and optical transceivers.
