HPE 2910al Series Switches

HPE 2910al Series Switches » Vista IT Group

The Hewlett Packard Enterprise 2910al series of Gigabit (Gb) access switches offers four high-performance models: the HPE 2910al-24G, 2910al-24G-PoE+, HPE 2910al-48G and 2910al-48G-PoE+. Each equipped with 4 dual personality ports, 2910 series switches offer significant advantages for converged networks, enterprise edge and remote branch offices, and other customers with high-performance data center requirements. As highly flexible access switches, the ProCurve 2910al series features a choice of queue configuration in terms of the number of queues as well as the accompanying associated memory buffering. Additionally, all HPE 2910al model types also offer static and Routing Information Protocol (RIP) Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) routing, easy uplink deployment, optional redundant power supplies and high security. Some of the many features that make the security of these HPE access switches so resilient include multiple user authentication methods, port based network access control, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

Also referred to as part number J9147A, some additional features that the HPE 2910al switches share include optional redundant power supplies, rate limiting, support for up to 4 optional 10-Gb ports, and traffic prioritization, which allows for the real-time classification of traffic into 8 priority levels. Highly scalable and cost-effective HPE access switches, the 2910al series also offers high manageability with features such as uni-directional link detection (UPLD), multiple configuration files, dual flash images. Additionally, all 2910al switches models are backed up by the ProCurve Lifetime Warranty. While there are many features that the access switches within the HPE 2910al switch series share, they also have differences that make them the distinctly separate models that they are. For instance, while they are all designed based on a high-performance architecture they differ in terms of switching fabric and number of port switches. While some models are equipped with a 128 Gigabit per second (Gbps) switching fabric, allowing for up to 96 million packets per second (pps) when configured with 24 port switches, others are equipped with a 176 Gbps switching fabric with up to 131 million pps when configured with 48 port switches.
