Dell PowerVault MD1200

Dell PowerVault MD1200 » Vista IT Group

As expansion enclosures, Dell PowerVault MD1200’s have what it takes to bring your enterprise IT environment to the next level. And I’m not just talking about expanding Dell PowerVault storage array capacity; Dell MD1200 enclosures also offer seamless, simple expansion for Dell PowerEdge servers by way of ever-useful PERC H800 HostRAID adapters. In fact, PERC Host-RAID adapters empower the rather small 2U Dell MD1200 expansion enclosures to support up to 12 2.5” and 3.5” Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and SAS Solid State Drives (SSDs) – and even expand all the way up to 8 arrays without having to add another PERC H8000 HostRAID adapter. With a maximum storage capacity of 24 Terabytes (TB), PowerVault MD1200’s can even support a mixture of both 2.5” and 3.5” disk drives, whether they fall under the heading of 7.2K Near-Line SAS (NL-SAS), 10K or 15K RPM SAS HDDs or SSDs.

Taking this back to a more macro-level overview of why Dell PowerVault MD1200 direct-attached storage (DAS) arrays are so awesome, there is the shiny, eye-catching and seemingly contradictory advantage of affordability and yet, high-capacity and performance. Paying a small amount and yet getting so much in return can be unbelievable at times, but thankfully, 100% true when it comes the MD1200 PowerVault storage. In addition to these major benefits, the Dell PowerVault MD1200 expansion enclosure also offers exceptional density, versatility and flexibility, all of which allow them to provide improved support for the more popular, mainstream applications as well as the more heavy-weight, capacity-intensive applications. And to add some rainbow-sprinkle frosting (since there is pretty much universal support for that being the best type of frosting around) to this already delicious cake, Dell MD1200’s also offer features such as self-encrypting drives, hot-swappable drives and a redundant path with I/O load balancing.
